“Propensity” is part of the Balance series. The use of diagonal line creates a sense of tension and movement, as if the sculpture were falling over. My intent was to focus on form and material more than ever. The center oculus will capture space and create a window for the viewer to look through. By using a bright color on the circle, my hope for this work is to capture the audience’s attention long enough for them to see something unexpected. That being said the phenomenon of people taking photos/selfies through the oculus was not my original goal but I have enjoyed watching this take place and seeing the resulting photos!
