Shayna Marose
Steel, Concrete, & Wire
Location: Park Central West
Shayna Marose’s rough-hewn style focuses on the way materials convey meaning, using concrete and steel to make life preserver rings that are familiar yet unsettling. She has been working to develop a visual language that explores the shift from salvation to endangerment. Her struggles with serious mental illness and grief compel her to convey a mosaic of emotional experiences.
In 2019 she began pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Missouri State University. In the Spring of 2020, her sculpture Target Practice with Annie Oakley was exhibited in Missouri State University’s Annual Foundations Exhibition. Her most recent work has focused on creating installations that invite the observer to incorporate themselves into the work.
