The Birdwatchers came about after making a single bird. I liked it, so I made a couple more. I wanted to see what they would look like stacked. I had to change the wings for the top bird to make it look like he was holding a pair of binoculars to his face. The flagpole was an after thought, I figured the sculpture needed a little more stability.
