Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel
Location: Northeast corner of Kimbrough Ave. & Trafficway St.
I wanted to convey a sense that the form is bulging with an inner vitality, sort of like us on our good days. All of my pieces are designed at roughly 1/8th scale, using a vast palette of little 1/8th scale versions of the individual segments of which the full-sized sculpture is comprised. It’s a very orderly system that I have to facilitate what can appear to be chaotic compositions. When I am happy with the maquette, I transfer my patterns to sheet metal, cut, roll, and weld all the parts together, and when fabrication is complete I take the sculpture to Monnig Industries in Glasgow, MO to be galvanized.
