This work was created by measuring, cutting, and welding steel rod. I wanted to play with gravity visually with the Pegasus figure standing on two legs. I began the form on the ground and eventually lifted the body into place using a hoist. I fabricated the wings to be bolted onto the work separately. I decided to only employ organic lines in the forged tail. I’ve been making horses with wings since 2009. My inspiration came from the freedom I found in working with horses on farms growing up. The addition of wings to a horse figure represents that freedom.
