Location: SE Corner of Kimbrough Ave. and Cherry St.

The foreshortened rope lifts the boat and figure up above the viewer. Putting the viewer into the depths of the water with the anchor. The smaller scale of the boat adds to the sense of unease. Along with the physical and visual weight of the sculpture being top heavy. But the figure peering over the edge, at the viewer down below, creates a harmony and connection between the two. This visual balance allows the viewer to be part of the sculpture. And the sculpture is not complete until the viewer steps into the space, first as an observer, then as a participant. The story that unfolds next is up to the viewer, you. It’s what you bring the piece through your own emotions and experiences and how you interpret the piece.
